Configurator upgrade provides new control options

A Pilz Automation Technology product story

Pilz has released a new version of the drag-and-drop Configurator for the PNOZmulti modular safety controller.

Version 5.3 incorporates support for the PNOZ ma1p analogue input module.

The new version of the Configurator enables users to create safety-related control systems that incorporate a maximum of four PNOZ ma1p modules per PNOZmulti base unit, with each analogue module accepting two analogue inputs.

Depending on the configuration of the hardware and safety logic, the analogue modules meet the requirements of EN IEC 62061 SIL2 or SIL3, as well as the performance level of EN ISO 13849-1.

A wide range of sensors with +/-10V or 0-20mA signals can be used, typically in a dual-redundant configuration.

These can include encoders, temperature sensors, pressure sensors or position/level sensors.

The PNOZmulti controller can then monitor four range limits or a maximum of eight threshold levels per input.

The reaction time is 75ms.

Status is indicated via LEDs on the front of the analogue input module and, if installed, via the PVIS intelligent diagnostics system and a suitable Pilz display.

In addition, the actual analogue values can be transmitted to other devices via a PNOZmultifieldbus module.

Compared with the traditional technique of using a separate unit to set a level on an analogue signal (for example, by means of an analogue-to-digital convertor), the PNOZmulti analogue functionality offers greater simplicity, a lower risk of errors and a reduced requirement for engineering time.

Users also gain from an improved menu structure and navigation, as well as better print options.
