Lens boosts inspection system resolution

A Stemmer Imaging product story

Linescan systems are used for the high-speed inspection of continuously moving material, such as steel strips, paper and other uncut materials.

Firstsight Vision has added the Macro Varon 85mm f4.5 lens from Schneider Kreuznach to its optics portfolio.

The lens has been designed to improve the resolution and flexibility of inspection systems using linescan cameras up to 12K with 5 micron pixels.

Linescan systems are used for the high-speed inspection of continuously moving material, such as steel strips, paper and other uncut materials.

The new lens features Continuous Aberration Suppression technology to provide distortion-free and chromatic-corrected imaging for high accuracy measurements.

A magnification range of 0.5 to 2.0x is provided, together with ultra-high optical resolution to 2.5 microns per pixel.

Consistent relative illumination of the lens over the entire image height allows the full size of the sensor to be used, which eliminates the need for electronic compensation and minimises camera signal noise.

The 85mm focal length of the lens reduces the required working distance, decreasing the space needed for the camera-lens assembly.
