Stemmer Imaging offers latest AVT Guppy camera

A Stemmer Imaging product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 30, 2009

The F503 is the latest addition to the AVT Guppy range of ultra compact, space-saving IEEE 1394 (Firewire) cameras for industrial and scientific OEMs, system integrators and resellers.

The cameras are now available from Stemmer Imaging in both colour and black-and-white versions with a highly sensitive 2,592 x 1,944 (5-megapixel) Micron/Aptina QWXGA 1/2.5in rolling shutter CMOS sensor.

The camera offers an external asynchronous trigger shutter and operates in 8-bit mode.

At full image resolution, the AVT Guppy F-503B/C offers up to 6.5 frames per second and is, therefore, particularly suitable for use in industrial image processing and product automation.

Other features include 2x and 4x binning as well as image sub-sampling.

There are also options to record image sequences automatically (multi-shot) or to define areas of interest (AOIs).

The extensive built-in image pre-processing capabilities provide good image quality, reduced image manipulation, less load on the system and higher performance overall, according to the company.

Offering a cost-effective entry into high-resolution digital image processing, these models offer a practical alternative for applications where interlaced analogue cameras and frame grabbers have traditionally been used.

Integrated functions take over the essential functions of the frame grabber.

The F503B/C can be integrated into existing applications thanks to its powerful and flexible API.
