Stepper controller comes into focus

Prior Scientific has added a PCI stepper motor controller to its highly successful range of microscope automation products.

Prior Scientific has added a PCI stepper motor controller to its highly successful range of microscope automation products This new controller has been designed to drive any combination of scanning stage, focus motor, filter wheel and shutters, all from within a PC

Manufactured in Cambridge, UK, the PCI stepper motor controller may be quickly and simply installed directly into any standard full size PCI slot, thus eliminating the need for a separate controller box.

This has the immediate advantage of saving valuable workspace in the lab.

The Prior PCI stepper motor controller has a communication response time of less than 250ns which is over 100 times faster than a standard RS232 interface.

Using the PCI stepper motor controller enables movement of the stage in increments as small as 0.01um for the x and y axes and 0.002um for a z-axis focus motor.

To give the ultimate in precise positioning, the Prior PCI controller has the ability to accept inputs from both linear and rotary encoder modules.

In addition, the system can be used to drive products such as scanning stages from other manufacturers.

The fully CE compliant PCI controller is supplied with a comprehensive DLL to facilitate integration into third-party imaging software applications.

The system is also compatible with existing products from Prior Scientific, such as the ProScan II and OptiScan motor controllers. Request a free brochure from Prior Scientific ...
