Choice of magnet determines stepper
performance
MAE hybrid stepper motors are available in three magnet configurations to suit the widest range of application requirements.
MAE hybrid stepper motors are available in three magnet configurations to suit the widest range of application requirements The Y series (Sizes 16, 17, and 22) contain AlNiCo magnets and are suited to high-speed applications, whereas the N series (Sizes 34 and 42) have neodymium magnets for excellent torque to inertia rating and offer superior acceleration

For the smoothest operation, the S series (Sizes 22 and 34) also use neodymium magnets and are engineered for fine positioning to suit microstepping drives.
All three series of these motors deliver accurate open loop control for high-performance positioning applications and are available for customisation with value added features such as gearboxes, encoders, special shafts and leadwire/connector assemblies.
All MAE hybrid stepper motors feature full step resolutions of 1.8 degrees (200 steps per revolution) with standard NEMA frame sizes and four- or eight-lead versions depending on the series; six-lead versions are available on request.
Holding torque (bipolar) capability across the range is from 70mNm to 22.5Nm and with speeds in excess of 10,000 full steps per second.
Motors feature precision-honed stators and ground rotors for tight air gap and maximum performance, single- or doubled-ended shaft extensions and simple, rugged construction for high reliability and long service life.
A new brochure, "Bulletin STP" is now available offering a detailed overview of all PennEngineering's, MAE brand hybrid stepper motor products.
Relevant specifications and performance data are accompanied by product photos, charts, and illustrations.
The brochure is available for download from the company's website or in hard copy from the network of European based distributors for PennEngineering Motion Technologies products.
