Two new Varioface front adapters from Phoenix Contact mean that a speedy, cost-effective and flexible solution for I/O wiring is now available to users of Allen Bradley ControlLogix programmable controllers.

The front adapters simply mount on the front of standard Allen Bradley I/O cards, and allow connections to outgoing terminals or interface units from the Phoenix Contact Varioface range to be made with standard plug-in ribbon cables.

The time taken for wiring is, therefore, dramatically reduced, and the possibility of connection errors is virtually eliminated.

Varioface front adapters for ControlLogix PLCs are available in 50-way versions for use with I/O cards having up to 32 channels, and in dual 14-way versions for use with I/O cards with up to 16 channels.

Both types of adapter have separate provision for the connection of power supplies to the I/O circuitry.

Varioface interface modules, which are used in conjunction with the new front adapters and cables, are available in an exceptionally wide range of types, from versions which simply provide screw or spring-clamp terminals for the connection of external devices, to sophisticated versions which provide isolation and signal conditioning.

Multicore cables for linking front adapters to interface modules are offered in standard lengths from 0.5 to 10m, in 0.5m increments, and can be supplied in other lengths to order.

The cables can be supplied in both screened and unscreened versions.

In addition to products designed for use with ControlLogix PLCs from Allen Bradley, Phoenix Contact offers equipment in the Varioface range for use with many other popular types of PLC, including models from Siemens, ABB, Modicon, Mitsubishi, B and R, GE-Fanuc, Philips and Satt Control.
