Spring-clamp rail-mounting terminals in the popular ST range have been awarded approvals by Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd for use in equipment for marine applications.

Following the award of approvals by Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd to spring-clamp rail-mounting terminals in the popular ST range from Phoenix Contact, designers and manufacturers of equipment for marine applications can now benefit from the speedy wiring and dependable connections offered by these versatile and durable products.

Featuring a space-saving compact design, combined with spring-clamp technology which ensures that connections are virtually unaffected by shock and vibration, Phoenix Contact ST terminals are available in versions which accommodate two, three or four connectors.

They can also be supplied with green and yellow moulded bodies, and an integral conductive foot for earth connections.

The approval from Det Norske Veritas for ST terminals covers types suitable for use with flexible conductors from 0.14 to 6mm2 or solid conductors from 0.14 to 10mm2, whereas the Germanischer Lloyd approval additionally includes the recently introduced ST10, ST16 and ST35 terminal blocks which extend the range of compatible conductor sizes up to 35mm2.

In addition to marine approvals, terminals in the ST range are also approved as conforming with all major European and international standards, and are approved by Deutsche Bahn for use in rail-related applications.

The are also now automatically supplied, without extra charge, in versions which fully conform to the requirements of the ATEX Directive for equipment used in hazardous areas.

To complement its ST range of spring-clamp terminals, Phoenix Contact offers an extensive selection of accessories.

These include marking and labelling systems, plug-in bridges, insulating covers and test plugs.
