The results of the first CIA Manufacturing Improvement Award in July 2003 showed that there are operations in the UK who are achieving substantial gains from adapting best practice ideas.
Entitled "From benchmarking to best practice", the 30th October workshop will include presentations from the award winners in the two categories - batch/speciality and continuous/high volume - Rhodia Pharmaceuticals, Contract Chemicals and DuPont.
A presentation will also be made by Robert Hall, who as the former Operations Director for BOC Industrial Gases acted as the assessor for the award and will give his views on what approaches are working.
Delegates will also hear about developments at Maxserv, the Europe-wide, web-based and online resource for process sector manufacturing improvement.
PICME will also report on the results of its collaborative benchmark programme for the process sector.
And for the first time will present the results for the batch process manufacturing sector.
