New image for PICME

The Process Industries Centre for Manufacturing Excellence, PICME, has refreshed its four year old corporate identity with a new look that is intended to help its expansion into additional markets and newly created services.
Mike Aitken, Business Development Manager at PICME says: "The original impetus for PICME and its creation came from the chemicals sector and was nurtured into being by the Chemical Industries Association".
"It was only natural that the original corporate identity reflect that genesis in the form of a molecular based logo".
"Four years on, however, and much of our business is with clients in other markets - in food and drink, packaging, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, plastic mouldings and other areas".
"For these customers, a chemical-based identity does not convey the whole story".
"We have accordingly redesigned a 'process flow" circle' or 'target' logo which reflects the workshop-based work that our engineers do at client level - namely, helping to create a mutually reinforcing confidence among multiskilled teams while pursuing set targets for productivity improvement".
With the client PICME engineers select tools from a variety of systems - eg Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and TQM in order to inspire the practical results in the teams.
Mark Lewis, PICME Chief Executive says: "Our passion is to assist companies on their journey to manufacturing excellence and our approach is a practical one of learning though doing".
"I am sure that our new logo will help reinforce our appeal and our working practices throughout all our target markets".
Since its inception in 2000 PICME has helped these client companies secure savings of over GBP 140 million.
Examples of these client benefits through improved manufacturing methods include: increased output of between 10-100%, reduced waste of 10-80%, reduced changeovers/clean-down times of 40-80%, and reduced lead times and stock of 50%-75%.
