The MGSB hydraulic filter incorporates a novel "third port concept" to provide inbuilt protection for the filter and minimise hydraulic system breakdowns.

Parker Filtration has introduced the new MGSB hydraulic filter that incorporates the company's innovative "third port concept".

This provides inbuilt protection for the filter and minimises hydraulic system breakdowns.

Generally speaking, some 80% of hydraulic system breakdowns are caused by contamination.

Efficient filtration helps prevent system failure and makes a significant contribution to low cost of ownership.

However, despite unequivocal service instructions in manuals, users do not always replace filter elements in due time or adhere to starting instructions! This can easily result in system breakdown and consequential warranty claims.

At the same time, components such as proportional valves are becoming more sensitive to contamination.

The improved protection of filters, therefore, is becoming increasingly important.

The new MGSB hydraulic filter is based on the company's successful range of MGS medium-pressure inline filters for flow rates up to 250 litre/min at a working pressure of 250bar but incorporates the third port.

For lower pressures up to 90bar and flows to 150 litre/min, Parker Filtration can offer the AGLB.

Both products are available on request.

The MGSB filter has a differential pressure controlled pressure relief valve integrated into the filter head instead of a bypass valve that might allow unfiltered fluid to bypass the filter element.

When the pressure relief valve opens, the majority of the oil flows unfiltered, via the third port in the filter head, back into the system.

The valve does not only open when the element needs replacing, but also prevents insufficient lubrication of system components during cold starts.

A small part of the oil volume is filtered and can be used for emergency operation.

As each hydraulic system has its own unique demands, customised Parker filters incorporating the third port concept are offered as system-matched solutions.
