Toolkit checks out PLM requirements

A PLM Interest Group (PLMIG) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 8, 2006

Openly available toolkit for PLM self-assessment enables anyone to generate a standard, company-wide overview of their PLM situation without any outside assistance.

The Product Lifecycle Management Interest Group (PLMIG) has published the first standard, openly available PLM self-assessment tool, enabling new and experienced PLM practitioners to generate their own company-wide and agreed view of their current and future PLM situation.

The self-assessment methodology is based on a "Lite" version of the successful PLM Benchmarking Handbook, which has been in use since 2004 to compare PLM implementations in detail.

It therefore works for all sizes of company, in all industries, and is the fastest way to generate a complete picture of a PLM enterprise.

The toolkit is designed to be used without the help of external advisors, so that the results are generated from the organisation itself.

The toolkit provides all of the instructions and checklists that are needed.

For new adopters of PLM, the toolkit will show their company's preparedness and the specific information that they will need to continue.

For experienced companies, the toolkit generates a peer-reviewed definition of current progress and a roadmap for the immediate next steps.
