Nondestructive testing specialist Phoenix Inspection Systems has achieved the environmental standard ISO14001.

It demonstrates that Phoenix, which designs and manufactures ultrasonic testing systems from its base in Warrington, operates to strict international standards to minimise waste and its effect on the environment.

Quality manager David Spencer said: "Having high environmental standards also makes sound business sense.

By reducing waste and ensuring responsible working practices, companies can cut costs and improve health and safety".

Phoenix managing director Karl Quirk added: "Companies around the world rely on Phoenix products to carry out vital safety checks at installations such as power plants and oil rigs.

We are committed to achieving the highest standards in both our products and our operation and the ISO14001 award is another example of this".

The award was granted by the certification body AJA Registrars.
