Now available from Powerline, the ETA PFD-HWX-U is a switch-mode power supply which incorporates a high-peak capability 24V DC output for motor drives or electromechanical switching applications.

Now available from Powerline, the ETA PFD-HWX-U is a switch-mode power supply which incorporates a high-peak capability 24V DC output for motor drives or electromechanical switching applications.

The new unit, which is designed to meet current harmonic distortion specifications, has a normal 5V, 5A output for electronic loads plus a 24V, 4A output with a peak of 14A for driving high peak loads such as motor drives, relays, valves and solenoids.

As a result, the power supply is ideally suited to use in applications such as vending and gaming machines, process control and industrial automation systems.

The ETA PFD-HWX-U also incorporates sequencing so that the 5V output starts up before the 24V output and shuts down after it.

This ensures that the logic circuitry is always powered up before the principle load is switched on.

The unit has a nominal output power of 120W, with a peak up to 360W.

Both outputs are adjustable within +/-10% of the rated output voltage.

Efficiency is 76% at 100V input and 79% at 230V, and active power factor correction is 0.97 and 0.9, respectively, at the same voltages.

It will operate over an input voltage range of 85-264V AC, 47-63Hz.

The new power supply is certified to UL1950, CSA950 and VDE EN60950, and meets relevant standards on conducted noise, EMI and harmonic distortion.

It carries a 2-year warranty.
