Ceramic coating helps motocross winner

A Poeton Industries product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 12, 2003

A coating specially developed for motorsport applications has helped Stephen Sword to his second British Motocross Championship.

Stephen Sword, riding a 125cc SX KTM bike with its cylinder bore coated by Poeton Industries, clinched his second British Motocross Championship for the Albion KTM Team when he won the opening race in the penultimate round of the eight-race series at Desertmartin in Northern Ireland.

The bike's cylinder bore was coated with Apticote Ceramic 2000, a coating specially developed for motorsport applications by Poeton's Aptec Division.

This unique coating provides exceptional wear characteristics, low friction and excellent oil retention for the pistons and cylinder bores of some of the UK's leading high-performance biking, karting and motor racing teams.
