The latest additions to the Xycom Automation range of VMEbus products include Motorola 680x0 based processors and intelligent industry pack carriers.

The latest additions to the Xycom Automation range of VMEbus products include Motorola 680x0 based processors and intelligent industry pack carriers.

The 68040 based XVME-162 and the 68060 based XVME-172 have four onboard industry pack sites in a 6U, single-slot format.

The XVME-147 is the industry standard for Motorola 68030 processor-based VMEbus systems.

The boards all feature hardware support for Ethernet, SCSI, serial/parallel ports, and software support for VxWorks, VRTX32, OS-9 and PSOS+.

The new products are a result of a strategic OEM agreement between Xycom and the Motorola Computer Group.

The agreement follows Motorola's recent announcement of its "VME renaissance" strategy to increase dramatically the longevity, capability and performance of the VMEbus for key applications in key market sectors.

The new product offering is a way to help customers to integrate the gap between their Motorola and Intel based CPU systems.

Integrating these new products into other Xycom VMEbus solutions will give Xycom the ability to provide value-added services around its existing VME Pentium processors, VME I/O boards, industry pack I/O modules and board support software packages.

Customers can enjoy the comfort of long-term availability and support for their existing and future design investment.
