Digital Electronics Corp of Japan, the parent company of the Pro-face group of companies, has accepted, in principle, a takeover bid from Schneider Electric.

The strategy outlined by Guy de Place, head of Schneider Electric in Japan, stated that the Pro-face group companies will continue to operate independently within the group as HMI specialists, providing HMI solutions for all the major PLC brands, including Xycom industrial PCs.

Schneider Electric will continue to offer complete factory automation solutions from a broad catalogue, including a comprehensive HMI offering.

Both channels will keep their current products line-up under current brand names.

The net effect of this for UK customers for both Pro-face and Schneider products is "no change" for the time being, but they can expect to see more new and innovative HMI products arriving through both channels.
