Potterton boilers for Birmingham Sikh temple
In one of its most prestigious projects of recent years, Potterton Commercial has supplied ten boilers for the new Sikh Temple in Soho, Birmingham.
Sussex based consultants, the Browning and Hussey Partnership, recognised the advantages that condensing boilers could bring to the school where cost savings are right at the forefront of their agenda.
Partner T.M Hussey says, "Eurocondense was absolutely right for this project.
Because the original heating and hot water load served from the main boiler room has been reduced over the years, we decided to deal with the reduced hot water supply requirement with high efficiency fan flued gas fired water heaters.
We were then able to install two Eurocondense boilers, one to each existing chimney flueway, to deal with the weather compensated heating." The boiler room refurbishment, which is being carried out by C.A Goodwin Ltd of Horsham, is the first phase of a three phase programme for the overall replacement of the heating system which will be completed in Summer 2001.
At this stage, the full energy savings afforded by the Eurocondense boilers and the new control system, which provides separate zoning to the north and south sides of the teaching block, will be fully realised.
The new installation supersedes an existing Potterton Commercial boiler plant using DOA Series boilers that had been giving sterling service for nearly 40 years.
Their replacement, Eurocondense, spearheads today's new breed of gas-fired high efficiency condensing boilers that offer new levels of economy with low emissions.
Also there is no need to condense continuously to benefit from an energy saving installation.
