Potterton boilers for Birmingham Sikh temple
In one of its most prestigious projects of recent years, Potterton Commercial has supplied ten boilers for the new Sikh Temple in Soho, Birmingham.
Measuring just 689x1160mm, the Compact provides outstanding kW per M2, with 48kW for a single application and up to 448kW for modular.
With boiler room space at a premium, the Derwent Compact's dimensions and easy installation features ensure a quick, easy installation with the minimum of hassle.
Nigel Westbrook, of HM Prison Services, specified the Derwent Compact boilers.
He says: "In matters concerning the public sector all aspects of a major purchase must be considered, from the cost right through to environmental issues.
"Winchester is a busy environment, where space for any application is at a premium.
The Compact was chosen primarily for its space saving capacity, but also because we were impressed by both it's levels of efficiency and Potterton's offer of a lifetime guarantee on the heat exchanger*.
This prison will still be here for a good many years to come and a boiler which we can rely on to meet our demands for the foreseeable future was an absolute must." The boilers will be providing heating and hot water for both the male inmates in the main body of the prison, and the female prisoners, who are housed in a separate Annexe, amounting to some 637 inmates.
The new system also covers the prison's healthcare centre, kitchens and staff areas.
Ken Percival, director and general manager for Potterton Commercial, says: "The market wants smaller, compact products that are more powerful and more efficient.
The Derwent Compact has been designed with these criteria at the fore." Offering a unique combination of heat exchangers, burners and controls, the Derwent Compact - part of the biggest selling high-output commercial boiler range on the UK market - has an operating efficiency of 90.7% (nett) and a Class 5 NOx level of 70mg/kW/hr.
The boilers were commissioned by Potterton's service team.
