New name in compliance engineering
Paramount Compliance Services is a new company that specialises in meeting the needs of small and medium sized manufacturing companies.
The importance of conformity
Any manufacturer or representative that has a product which is required to adhere to a EU directive will need to make a legal declaration of conformity.
The Knowledge Exploitation Fund is a European backed initiative run by the Welsh Funding Councils.
The fund has four main objectives: to facilitate the culture and support the development of entrepreneurship in further and higher education institutions; to facilitate business access to, and share of, knowledge and resources within these institutions; to accelerate exploitation of research and development work and other knowledge and expertise; and to further develop the potential of staff in these institutions to respond to the needs of industry, particularly small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and supply chain companies.
Initially about GBP 23 million was available in 2001/2 for projects and programmes which put academic knowledge to work in the economy.
This created a wealth of opportunities for institutions either to initiate new projects or to enhance existing activities.
The next phase will make at least GBP 42 million available to institutions in Wales between 2003 and 2005.
For a company, particularly a small and growing enterprise, KEF presents an opportunity to bring the knowledge base of the academic world into the office or factory.
Working together with further or higher education, new expertise can be applied to develop new products or processes, develop staff, build new markets or strengthen the management team.
KEF exists to assist innovation at all levels.
