Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 28, 2006

A handheld reader based on a 1.3Mpixel CMOS chip can read and decode conventional 1D codes as a host of high capacity codes including data matrix, PDF417, Maxicode, QR code and others.

The latest addition to the Pepperl+Fuchs Omnitron range is a handheld reader based on a 1.3Mpixel CMOS chip that can read and decode conventional 1D codes such as code 39 and code 128 as well as a host of high capacity codes including data matrix, PDF417, Maxicode, QR code and others.

This unique ability to read many different codes is designed to aid users during the migration period from 1D to 2D codes when both types will be "in the system" without the need for two separate scanners.

The wide depth of field the unit has enables it to read codes of various sizes from 20cm down to just 2mm.

The unit has a number of connection options including serial link, USB and Bluetooth.
