Bar code reader improves decode performance
Pepperl+Fuchs' bar code reader provides omni-directional reading of all linear and two-dimensional symbologies.
Pepperl+Fuchs has released the MAH120 bar code reader, using MegaPixel CMOS digital imaging and dynamic optimisation technology (DOT) to continuously improve decode performance.
The MAH120 is priced to compete with traditional laser scanners while providing omni-directional reading of all linear and two-dimensional symbologies including Data Matrix, and outperforming competing products in ease of use, durability, programmability, and host connectivity.
"The MAH120 is simple, fast and affordable".
"The performance of this bar code reader is amazing", said John Gover, Product Manager for Pepperl+Fuchs in Northern Europe.
"Our industrial-biased MAH200 and MAH300 product lines outclass competing products in flexibility, size, weight, and wireless operation".
"The MAH120 applies Pepperl+Fuchs' long experience in CMOS imaging technology to the traditional cabled reader market, with a low price and reading performance that cannot be matched".
Using the MAH120 is extremely intuitive.
It has a user-friendly targeting technique, guiding the user to optimal reading distance.
A vibrating motor provides tactile user feedback in noisy environments where visual and audible feedback isn't enough to confirm a "good read" and in quiet environments where beeping bar code readers are a distraction.
The MAH120 is a cabled gun-format device with a permanent lanyard hook, durable over-moulded housing and secured cable clip attachment.
It is extremely rugged and designed for high-volume reading and imaging applications where a cabled reader is acceptable.
The MAH120 can read and decode any symbology at exceptional speed - including one and two-dimensional codes such as DataMatrix, PDF417, UPC/EAN/JAN, RSS and approximately 30 others, making it suitable for future-proofing businesses.
When accompanied with the JavaScript Application Development Kit, complex data parsing and pre-processing is at the reader level, simplifying host-end support.
Decoding, document imaging and OCR functions are supported by a high-speed CMOS embedded processor from Raza Microelectronics (RMI).
The RMI Alchemy Au1200 processor is a versatile high-performance, low-power, high-integration system-on-a-chip targeted at portable media players, digital media adapters, automotive information and entertainment multimedia clients and devices, such as the MAH120 from Pepperl+Fuchs, where efficient digital media processing and low power are valued.
The Au1200 Processor features an enhanced video subsystem optimised for common video formats, a specialised media acceleration engine which removes the need for external digital signal processing, USB 2.0, a CCIR656 camera interface, AES-128 data encryption/decryption, programmable serial controllers, and support for DDR1 and DDR2 SDRAM memory devices.
The Alchemy Au1200 can be used with an externally wired device or in a wireless environment, making it the perfect processor for Code's entire line of bar code readers.
The new Pepperl+Fuchs MAH120 1D/2D reader will complement both the current MAH200 and MAH300 hand held readers and will be available from major UK barcode distributors from May 2007.
