Emergency stop buttons improve safety

A Pepperl+Fuchs GB product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 19, 2007

Pre-loading the spring contacts of the AS-Interface switch block a stop condition is guaranteed even when the block is detached from the button.

Potentially unsafe conditions can be avoided thanks to the pre-loaded switch position on Pepperl+Fuchs' first panel mounted AS-interface emergency stop buttons.

With some older AS-Interface panel mounted buttons it was possible for the AS-Interface block to become detached (through damage) from the button without triggering the safety system.

The button appeared from the outside to be fine but was actually disconnected from the network.

But by pre-loading the spring contacts of the AS-Interface switch block a stop condition is guaranteed even when the block is detached from the button.

These new buttons are twist-to-release and also pull-to-release and have illumination.
