The first online system for the monitoring of chlorite ions in potable water has been released by ProMinent Fluid Controls (UK).

The first online system for the monitoring of chlorite ions in potable water has been released by ProMinent Fluid Controls (UK).

By introducing reliable and continuous online measurements it is now no longer necessary to use laboratory testing of water samples to determine the chlorite level, offering considerable cost saving benefits.

The new system provides the ideal way of monitoring chlorite levels in treated water in accordance with international regulations.

It allows timely intervention to adjust the disinfection process should the chlorite level exceed the limits specified.

The system consists of a specially developed Dulcotest two-electrode amperometric sensor housed in a an inline probe housing.

The sensor is linked to a Dulcometer D1C single channel controller to measure the chlorite levels.

The whole system is conveniently mounted on a PE panel, with room for an additional chlorine dioxide monitoring system, if required.

The new sensor is available in two measurement ranges: 0.020-0.500 and 0.10-2.0mg/litre.

There is no interference from other chlorine-containing compounds that are present in the water, such as chlorine dioxide, chlorine or chlorate.
