A ProMinent Fluid Controls (UK) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 27, 2006

Pumps for precision dosing of sulphuric acid, sodium hypochlorite, sodium bisulphate, polyelectrolyte and aluminium sulphate form part of major refurbishment of Clay Lake Water Treatment Works.

Prominent Fluid Controls has supplied a number of Profibus-controlled precision dosing pumps as part of a major refurbishment of the Clay Lake Water Treatment Works in County Armagh, Northern Ireland.

The refurbishment project is being handled by Earthtech Engineering, a Tyco International company.

There are 14 pumps supplied from Prominent's Gamma/L, Sigma 1, Sigma 2 and Sigma 3 ranges of Profibus-controlled pumps.

The pumps will be used for precision dosing of sulphuric acid, sodium hypochlorite, sodium bisulphate, polyelectrolyte and aluminium sulphate.

Prominent is also supplying a mobile chlorination trailer to maintain disinfection of the water supplies while the treatment plant is built alongside the old one.

The Profibus pumps will be controlled from a central computer or PLC.

Each pump is supplied with a GSD file which gives the configuration details of the pump and instructions to show what input data need to be sent to the pump to control it and what pump parameters the output data bytes represent.
