Increased dynamic torque from spur gearbox

A Premotec product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 26, 2000

Premotec has introduced a new gearbox type, the S38, a 38mm diameter spur gearbox in 9 standard ratios from 6 to 900:1

Not content with expanding their motor range, Premotec has introduced a new gearbox type - the S38.

A 38mm diameter spur gearbox in 9 standard ratios from 6 to 900:1, this compact but powerful unit presents a variety of benefits to the modern designer.

This well-established, almost industry-standard, gearbox shape has been upgraded internally using an improved tooth profile.

Backlash has been reduced from 2 to 1deg at no load.

The result is an increased dynamic torque rating of 700mNm, longer life and significantly lower noise.

To allow the capability of the S38 to be fully utilised, full compatibility is provided with three Premotec coreless motor types - the 22, 29 and 40mm units - together offering over 160 readily available motor/gearbox combinations.

The all-round performance of the new S38 and its economic design make it extremely useful as an integral part of motorised drive systems in a wide range of applications requiring precise movement.

Application examples are conveyor systems, medical/ laboratory analysis equipment, printers, ticket issuing machines, and various pump types.
