Protex Fasteners Ltd now manufactures at its factory in Redditch the 41-1292, a longer-handled, heavy duty draw latch (aka overcentre fastener) combining powerful leverage with fast operation over lengthy service A spring-loaded safety catch engages to hold down the long lever in the closed position

Very sturdily constructed in stainless steel, the new 41-1292 has a breaking strength of 3 tonnes.

The product will fasten two surfaces on large enclosures and containers - chambers, cages, silos, hoppers, vessels, tanks and tankers.

Uses are arising widely on brewing and fermenting vats, dust extractors, metal finishing chambers, industrial refrigerators, mining equipment, swing bumper bars on fire tender vehicles, and mould cages for shaping building blocks.

This overcentre fastener incorporates screw adjustment of 19mm (altering the overall length from 241 to 260mm) to allow for fitting tolerances and compensate later in service life for any compaction of a seal or wear of the two surfaces.

Adjustment is executed in situ merely by rotating a trunnion, which then hooks over its mating catchplate.

The new draw latch is supplied with base-plate and a pin sealing facility for added security.
