Fasteners line up for Midlands
manufacturers
Protex Fasteners will exhibit its latest quick-action fastening systems at the Midland Manufacturing Exhibition.
Protex Fasteners will exhibit its latest quick-action fastening systems on Stand 46 at the Midland Manufacturing Exhibition, taking place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 15th and 6th March New products on show include the company's Type 33 latches, a budget priced heavy-duty fastener, and Protex's recently extended ex-stock range of stainless steel BandClamps
Protex Type 33 over-centre latches are suitable of a wide variety of resealable applications throughout the safety equipment, process industries, civil engineering, agricultural equipment, defence, aerospace, motorsports sectors, lifeboat and marine products.
They are manufactured in stainless or zinc-plated mild steel and are available with a choice of three grip lengths.
All are designed for use with Protex type 01-502, 02-502 or 03-502 catchplates and provide an ultimate strength of 4.3kN.
For added security, the new low profile fasteners are offered with two types of optional sealing pins or a side action safety catch.
They can also be supplied in the patented TooLatch configuration, incorporating a purpose-designed tool operated safety catch.
These require a "deliberate act" with a coin, screwdriver or similar implement for them to be released - providing significant benefits to equipment manufacturers needing to comply with CE marking regulations, as well as dramatically reducing the possibility of accidental or impulsive opening of items such as machine guards.
Protex's new type 47-2650 budget-priced, heavy duty latch is ideal for a wide range of resealable fastening applications in the agricultural, commercial vehicle, logistics and safety equipment sectors.
It offers an ultimate strength of 9.8kN and is equipped with a threaded eyebolt, which provides up to 20mm grip range adjustment.
In addition, the new design can be secured by a lockable padlock or optional purpose-designed sealing pins.
Protex BandClamps combine the benefits of a worm drive hose clip with the speed and convenience of an over-centre fastener.
The company's latest range of ex-stock products in stainless steel now includes variants suitable for components from 24 to 615mm diameter.
Grip diameters up to 45mm are accommodated by Protex type 61-1750-PBC-SS platform BandClamps, whose ten model range incorporates a triangular platform for the latch to be closed against.
This feature optimises the fastener's geometry during closing, avoiding the need for excessive operating pressure and / or the subsequent relaxation of grip as the latch mechanism goes "over-centre" on small diameter parts.
In addition, all platform BandClamp variants incorporate a safety catch, which prevents inadvertent opening, even under severe shock or vibratory loads.
Comprising eight models, Protex's 27-HT-SS series BandClamps have been designed for use with components from 70 to 375mm.
In parallel, the company's nine-strong range of type 57-HT-SS heavy-duty BandClamps will secure components from 250 to 615mm and provide a maximum grip strength of 4.4kN.
Both of these stainless steel ranges incorporate a worm drive adjustment that accommodates variations of up to 45mm in component diameter.
