Stainless-steel clamps secure fire extinguishers on high power leisure rigid inflatable boat.
All stainless-steel Protex Bandclamps have been selected by Bananashark to secure fire extinguishers on the company's recently-launched type 770 high power leisure rigid inflatable boat.
Based on a detuned version of the hull used by Bananashark Racing for its National Championship-winning Formula One offshore racing boat, the company's five-seater 770 7.3m boat is powered by a Mercury 225 outboard motor.
Bananashark selected Protex Bandclamps after using the company's Prolatch fasteners on its race boats.
"We started fitting Prolatches to secure engine covers more than three years ago and have not experienced any sort of failure with them since," said Bananashark's Race Engineer, Kevin (Kitten) Stephens.
"They are simply the best product for that job, providing positive location in two planes, along with a quick over-centre locking action".
"Our commercially-available 770 leisure craft is built to the same exacting standards".
"That's why we had no hesitation in selecting Protex products for retaining the two fire extinguishers it carries on board".
Bananashark specified 27SPG-HT070-115SS Bandclamps for this application.
Made from stainless steel, for maximum corrosion resistance, these units have a worm drive adjustment for components from 70 to 115mm diameter and a spring claw design that can accommodate significant variations in extinguisher bottle size.
The Protex products also provide a spring strength of 66kgf, more than enough to retain the 2kg capacity units in their cradles under the roughest of sea conditions - or even when the boat slams back into the water after a jump.
In parallel, their fast over-centre latch mechanism ensures instant availability of the extinguishers when required.
The fasteners are members of a recently-extended range of stainless steel Bandclamps supplied by Protex from stock, in various configurations to suit components from 24 to 615mm diameter.
