A Protex Fasteners product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 11, 2006

Protex Fasteners is launching 316 stainless steel ranges of its 27-633 light duty spring claw fastener and all of the 43 and 44 series of heavy duty adjustable fasteners

The new ranges have been developed to meet an increasing demand for products able to withstand hostile and corrosive environments including the marine and process industry sectors.

Already offering other ranges of rigid and spring claw fasteners (33-1260, 38-1260, 39-1260, 320-1260; 33-5880 and 38-5880 series) in 316 stainless steel as standard, extending this availability to other types reflects the company's commitment to providing the widest possible selection of high quality product for customers in many different industry sectors.

Manufactured using spring steel curved wire or coil springs, spring claw fasteners can be used in applications that require resilience.

The degree of spring deflection up to a maximum working load varies between different fasteners; extension spring claws pulled beyond their maximum working load will become rigid and no longer act as a spring.

Adjustable fasteners incorporate either a screwed spindle or threaded eyebolt and trunnion which produce a minimum 10mm of adjustment.

This gives strength advantages of a rigid fastener while allowing the required tension to be set after fitting.
