Competence centres to aid Profinet
deployment
Profibus International has founded the first Profinet Competence Centres in the USA and Germany, offering support for the use and development of Profinet devices.
Profibus International (PI) has founded the first Profinet Competence Centres in the USA and Germany, offering interested end-users and device manufacturers optimum support for the use and development of Profinet devices The Profinet Competence Centres have comprehensive knowledge of engineering and distributed automation systems with Profinet as well as intimate knowledge of the Profinet Runtime Software, the present version of which is available for download from the Profibus Group website

The Profinet Competence Centres work closely with the Profinet core team and the Profnet test labs, which are in the process of being established.
The support of the Profinet Competence Centres will speed up the establishment of a viable Profinet product range.
Manufacturers of Profinet products as well as system integrators and plant equipment and machinery producers will therefore be able to adopt the new Profinet automation technology at an early stage.
The new Profinet Competence Centres are in Furth and Magdeburg, Germany and at Johnson City, USA.
The Profibus Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University will also be applying to become accredited as a Profinet Competence Centre to help UK companies take early advantage of the technology.
