Conference to draw UK and European bus experts
The fifth annual UK Profibus and Profinet User Conference will combine the conference with practical workshops and and exhibition featuring many live demonstrations.
Fieldbus networks keep baggage systems running
Marco Polo Airport, Venice, uses redundant Profibus DP fieldbus networks on the high-availability baggage handling system that processes up to 4000 items of luggage per hour.
The resounding outcome was the requirement for the conference to be focused on requirements of the user community.
Responding to this valuable feedback, the 2006 event has been renamed the Profibus User Conference and the format altered to reflect a much stronger emphasis on the needs of the user community.
For example, in a new section devoted to "back to basics" there will be enabling sessions to assist companies making the transition from conventional to Fieldbus systems as easy (and jargon free) as possible.
In addition, the conference will cover latest developments in Profibus and Profinet technology for factory and process automation including safety, motion control, wireless implementations and integration with the Internet and MES.
The event will be supported by an exhibition of the latest products and technology demonstrations from the Profibus Competence Centre at MMU.
The papers committee is now looking for speakers who are willing to make short presentations - of around 30 to 40 minutes - based around single aspects of Profibus.
This may be on cabling, hazardous areas or any such topic.
Interactive presentations featuring live demonstrations are particularly welcome.
The intention is to focus the sessions on just one aspect enabling the delegates to acquire an in-depth knowledge of that area.
The committee is also seeking proposals for papers covering the latest developments in Profibus and Profinet technology as well as case studies illustrating their use in real world applications.
Proposals for presentations comprising a working title and 50 to 150-word abstract and brief biography should be sent to the papers committee no later than 15th January 2006.
