Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 11, 2008

Alexander Kaiser's paper will provide hints for the design of networks according to the physical layer specifications, as well as how to meet performance targets.

One of the papers to be presented at the Profibus and Profinet User Conference scheduled for the 24 and 25th June in Stratford on Avon will cover Profibus DP and PA system design and layout.

Alexander Kaiser, a certified Profibus engineer from the ABB Fieldbus and Tools Lead Centre in Germany, will discuss the most important facts that should be taken into account in relation to the physical specifications and recommendations for planned Profibus DP and PA segments.

His paper will also cover the use of layout tools during the whole life cycle of a Profibus project, from the network planning to the in-service maintenance phase.

The paper will present hints for the design of networks according to the physical layer specifications, as well as how to meet performance targets.

Kaiser will also show the benefit of using a Microsoft Excel based layout tool for planning and designing a Profibus network, to avoid wrong decisions and errors in calculation.

If there are particular questions delegates want answered in relation to planning a Profibus system layout, pre-registered delegates have the opportunity to pose their questions in advance, so that the presentations can cover thetopic.

The event includes an exhibition of products using Profibus and Profinet technology from relevant suppliers, a two-day conference, with parallel workshop sessions providing practical advice and instruction on dealing with Profibus and Profinet systems.
