Lloyds Register approval for ingress alarm system
PSM claims to offer more safety features for less money with its latest LR type-approved Bulksafe system, meeting Solas Reg.XII/12 for water ingress alarm.
One of the unique features of the PSM BulkSafe is the ability to check the entire system from sensors to alarm unit at a deck location with a simple test handle.
There are no impractical filter washing systems and no float switches.
The PSM designers believe that simple devices such as float operated switches and conductivity probes do not provide a continuous self-check.
Physically checking a float by immersion before cargo loading is no guarantee it will not subsequently stick in a crucial real alarm condition.
The PSM sensors use "live signal" continuous monitoring thus removing passive unreliability from these primary safety systems.
Furthermore, if installed using the easi-fit recommendations the sensors are not only fully checkable even with a fully loaded cargo they are 100% serviceable and removable in this condition.
All of this comes in addition to the auto self-check of the system, affording the crew a real peace of mind.
The sensors used in the system are taken from PSM's existing range of well proven and separately fully type approved level transmitters extensively used in Marine and Navy duties.
With their NATO approved sensors and nearly 30 year pedigree in the industry PSM believes it offers operators confidence in the ruggedness of the components designed for this tough application.
PSM claims its new system is one of the lowest cost and simplest systems to install and optionally include regulation dewatering controls.
In all cases the systems can be installed during a voyage.
PSM recognise that all bulkers are different and provides a comprehensive pack of drawings giving optional installation methods and arrangements.
PSM says it offers the widest range of optional fittings and accessories to simplify installation at sea.
Independent installers attest to the PSM system being the most considered and well engineered in their experience.
