Pocket PC software speaks to level transducers

A Pressure Systems product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 23, 2006

Submersible datalogging level transducers can now be interrogated using a handheld pocket PC.

Pressure Systems, manufacturer of KPSI level and pressure transducers, now offers an easy-to-use, Windows Mobile-based derivative of its sophisticated K-ware applications software to operate its waterMonitor submersible, datalogging level transducers with a handheld pocket PC.

K-ware Mobile provides much of the functionality of K-ware, designed for desktop or laptop PCs, with an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) for simplicity.

K-ware Mobile gives field technicians easy access to the site management tools required to get data efficiently.

The new software enables the user to determine operational status, view live data, configure up to 16 test profiles and extract logged data.

Extracted data can later be exported for analysis using the more comprehensive K-ware.

Users can also adjust the output to a common reference point to more easily correlate data from multiple sites as well as change the units of measurement for both level and temperature readings.

K-ware also enables re-addressing of transducers in the field and will automatically change its configuration to match each address to maintain connectivity, an especially important function where multiple transducers are attached to an SDI-12 datalogging device.

Minimum specifications for a handheld Pocket PC to use K-ware Mobile include Windows Mobile 2003 SE or Windows Mobile 5; at least one CompactFlash card slot (required for CompactFlash serial port adapter); and a CompactFlash RS232 port adapter with a nine pin D-shell connector.

K-ware Mobile Version 1.2.0 software is available for download from Pressure Systems' website at no charge.
