A range of heavy duty power resistor packs manufactured by Pentagon Electrical Products can now be supplied for loads up to 4kW continuous rating.

A range of heavy duty power resistor packs manufactured by Pentagon Electrical Products can now be supplied for loads up to 4kW continuous rating.

However, for short term, infrequent or intermittent applications, the power loadings can be increased by up to 2000%.

They are designed for use as load banks, with motor starting and as dynamic braking resistors which are required wherever electric motor drives and inverters are subject to constant start/stop conditions.

This includes lifts, lathes and conveyor lines etc, including many general engineering applications involving automated production or processing.

The increased load ratings have been achieved by utilising vitreous enamelled resistors, which can withstand temperature rises up to 380C.

These products are more thermally robust than conventional open wire-wound resistors, and are capable of withstanding and dissipating the high voltage peak loads resulting from dramatic motor speed changes.

The resistor elements are housed in zinc plated perforated steel enclosures which have a durable powder coated finish.

Four enclosure sizes are available, which can be fitted out with varying resistor banks covering a wide combination of continuous load ratings from 200W.

These products, together with a selection of coated and open type resistor elements, cubicle heaters and thermostats will be exhibited on stand number B66 at the Drives and Controls exhibition.
