PTC has announced the successful results of several customer collaborative project management initiatives enabled by Windchill ProjectLink.

On average, Windchill ProjectLink customers have: accelerated time to market by 15%; eliminated 70% of physical prototypes; reduced data proliferation by 30%; and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in travel expenses.

These companies include Cannondale, Enser, Exostar, Harman/Becker Automotive Systems, Ingersoll Rand, ITT, Playtex, SKF, Sun Microsystems, and TRW.

"The success achieved by our customers demonstrates the PTC solution for enterprise product lifecycle management (PLM)", noted Jim Heppelmann, PTC executive vice president, software products and chief technology officer.

"Packaged solutions, sharing a common technology platform, and addressing specific business needs have been a proven success.

Windchill ProjectLink has been designed as such, enabling companies to automate key business processes such as new product introduction, six sigma and advanced product quality planning (APQP).

Combined with PTC's proven two-week quick-start implementation, this solution provides for a compelling and rapid return on investment (ROI)".

Windchill ProjectLink is the first solution to deliver comprehensive, real-time collaborative project management for all members of the extended product development team.

Windchill ProjectLink provides web-based workspaces with all the tools necessary to pull together globally dispersed team members, including project management, a project file repository, workflow, CAD integration and visualisation, and a meeting centre.

This combination of capabilities provide a complete collaborative project management solution that enables companies to improve project collaboration, manage projects, execute project plans, and accelerate key business processes.

Since the solution was introduced last year, over 125 customers, representing over 11,500 users in a variety of industries, have chosen Windchill ProjectLink to help execute aggressive product development schedules, develop tighter relationships with customers and suppliers, achieve higher levels of innovation, and generate greater profitability.

The current version of Windchill ProjectLink, introduced in June 2002, offers a broad array of new features that enhance the ability of executives, managers and users to manage projects more effectively including: resource, budget and cost management; hierarchical projects with status and cost roll-up; a robust, bidirectional integration with Microsoft Project; and workflow automation of project plans.

These capabilities take an already proven product development collaboration solution to the next level of collaborative project management.

Windchill ProjectLink presents a clear benefit to any company in any industry where collaborative project management is essential.

This benefit can be achieved with low risk due to PTC's demonstrated, fixed price, service packages.

These packages include the two-week quick-start implementation and a deployment service offering designed to accelerate adoption.

In addition Windchill ProjectLink offers flexible pricing and hosting models.
