PTC has strengthened its Windchill web-based collaboration and control offering with the introduction of a new quick start solution called Windchill PDMLink.
The report underscores PTC's early success in the PLM market through discussions of the comprehensiveness of its Windchill platform and the ability of Windchill to address complex customer requirements.
The report examines seven of the leading PLM vendors including PTC, MatrixOne, EDS, SAP, Eigner, IBM Dassault and Agile, in a variety of different categories.
In the report, AMR Research states, "PTC comes out on top overall, followed closely by MatrixOne, EDS and SAP".

Software manages product lifecycles for NASA
NASA's Johnson Space Center is realising significant benefits with its production-level implementation of PTC Windchill Applications and services for product lifecycle management (PLM).
PTC's PLM functionality scored higher than the group average in the product portfolio management, customer needs management, collaborative product design, product data management and direct materials sourcing functionality areas.
In addition, PTC scored higher than the vendor average in the overall functionality, technology and market presence and vision categories.
"We're pleased AMR Research considers us the defining vendor in the PLM marketplace", said PTC President and CEO Richard Harrison.
Harrison credits the synergy between the Product First movement taking place in business today and PTC's solutions that help its customers realise the important benefits of Product First.
"Our customers are very focused on getting back to what matters most - the products they create and the tangible value they bring to their companies", said Harrison.
"For 15 years, PTC has been committed to developing software solutions that enable our customers to create superior products that win in their respective markets.
We think this report demonstrates that we are doing just that".
In the report, AMR Research states, "It is fair to say that PTC has the earliest and most compelling vision for PLM".
In addition, AMR Research praised PTC's Windchill suite of offerings, stating, "[PTC's] PLM offering which is comprised of an extensive set of link application products built on the Windchill platform is the widest true suite available in the market.
Its technology foundation is well conceived for the primary strategic issues of PLM, namely the ability to reach many different kinds of users over the web with very rich product information".
