Quick start for product data management
PTC has strengthened its Windchill web-based collaboration and control offering with the introduction of a new quick start solution called Windchill PDMLink.
Huangpu Shipbuilding believes that this decision will further accelerate its transformation into a modern international shipbuilding enterprise.
As one of the most technologically advanced companies in China's highly competitive shipbuilding industry, Huangpu Shipbuilding's relationship with PTC dates back to 1999.
At that time, Huangpu Shipbuilding became the first shipyard in southern China's Guangdong province to purchase PTC CADDS 5i.

NASA's Johnson Space Center is realising significant benefits with its production-level implementation of PTC Windchill Applications and services for product lifecycle management (PLM).
Huangpu Shipbuilding has relied on PTC CADDS 5i since that time to facilitate its ongoing expansion and modernisation.
The suite of CADDS 5i solutions enables users to reference each other's evolving designs and facilitate concurrent engineering in a fully digitised ship design and 3D modelling environment.
This sophisticated enterprise application for shipbuilding will shorten product design lead-time and accelerate time to market.
With its new deployment of CADDS 5i Huangpu Shipbuilding is expected to bring additional revolutionary changes in digitisation at its shipyard.
CADDS 5i will now be used by 80 additional engineers at Huangpu Shipbuilding.
As in any industrial sector, innovation is key to realising opportunities and market growth.
However, the shipbuilding sector is often marked by lengthy product development cycles, due largely to archaic manual design processes that are still in place.
Huangpu Shipbuilding led the industry in adopting CADDS 5i, which offers flexible 3D hybrid modelling and 2D drafting capabilities across a broad application range, easing engineers' workload, and freeing up their time to develop more innovative products.
"The implementation of CADDS 5i will significantly enhance our R and D capabilities", said Guo Yabin, Deputy General Manager, Huangpu Shipbuilding.
"We are extremely pleased to have PTC as a long-term strategic partner and believe this relationship will help us become a model enterprise in the shipyard industry".
"Huangpu Shipbuilding's standardisation on PTC CADDS 5i is the result of PTC's continued commitment to provide advanced products and implementation assistance in the global shipbuilding industry", says Berry Gibson, Director Aerospace and Defense Market Strategy, PTC.
"We are excited about our role in helping Huangpu Shipbuilding become one of the most technologically sophisticated international ship builders".
"We look forward to the continuation of our successful relationship as we begin to provide a complete product development system that supports data and process management".
