Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 28, 2009

The University of Nottingham's Faculty of Engineering is using PTC's Pro/Engineer to teach mechanical, manufacturing and design engineering, as well as product design, undergraduate courses.

The University Plus Site licence, supplied by PTC Value Added Reseller Optima, now gives more than 1200 students the latest engineering tools to help prepare for their future careers.

Simon Harrison, a course director at the University of Nottingham, said: 'We are particularly impressed with the way in which PTC's technology will allow our students to train to a high standard.

'Our aim is to provide students with the right training and skills so that when they leave university they are 'ready to engineer' and are familiar with the tools in the market: Pro/Engineer does just that.

'It offers a complete suite of concept to manufacture, enabling product design and mechanical engineering students to utilise one tool.' PTC is offering a free perpetual licence of Pro/Engineer Wildfire Schools Edition to every student that is enrolled at a college/university and using Pro/Engineer University Edition.
