PTG Industries announces a breakthrough in laser technology: the first ever laser cutting and marking system that utilises fibre lasers for precision and efficiency.

PTG Industries has announced a breakthrough in laser technology - the first ever laser cutting and marking system that uses fibre lasers for precision and efficiency This innovative system has an efficiency rate of 50-60% and requires little set-up time

This system can be used for a variety of applications, including glass scribing, templates and patterns, stencils and plaques, and can cut and mark materials such as acrylic, leather and rubber.

The SBM-1200-M is the first system designed to operate with a fibre laser, and can be equipped to operate at a range of frequencies, from 200W to 10,000W, depending on the application needs.

This system uses essentially half of the power required by a traditional carbon dioxide (CO2) cutting system, yet its spot size is 1/10 the size of the CO2's spot size.

This permits greater detail and higher accuracy in cutting and marking, as well as cleaner edges on the product.

The SBM-1200-M is also the first of its kind to have a removable cutting head that can be replaced with a scanning head, thus doubling this system's functionality and saving users the cost of implementing a second system for marking.

PTG is demonstrating the functionality of this new generation of fibre laser cutting and marking system at the 2006 FABTECH International Trade Show to be held on the 13th to 16th November 2005 at McCormick Place South in Chicago, USA.
