Turbo-generator provides electricity efficiently
The turbo-generator set will be driven by steam generated from the waste heat contained in the exhaust gases emitted from eleven four-stroke diesel generating sets.
The system will be supplied through the Teesside office of international engineering contractor Foster Wheeler Energy.
Peter Brotherhood had to design the system to fit into a very confined area.
"We had to reorient the compressor on the skid to make it fit the restricted space available", explained Tony Murphy, Sales Manager at Peter Brotherhood.
"We also worked closely with contractors and plant engineers at LOR to reroute pipes and supports and also relocated various components around the periphery of the compressor to ensure it could be operated safely".
The nonlubricated compressor will be produced to American Petroleum Industry standard 618 (API618) and specific LOR specifications.
It will have a suction pressure of 28.01bar(a) and will discharge at 44.41bar(a).
The system is due for delivery in March 2003.
It will be supplied fully packaged on a base plate together with 650kW drive motor, oil and water systems, pulsation vessels, recycle cooler, pipe work, local gauge board and a Bentley Nevada 3300 monitoring system.
