Available in the UK and Ireland from Pantek, the Gateway is a new intelligent gateway for Ethernet to Ethernet/serial networks from Woodhead Software and Electronics.

The Woodhead Gateway is more than a standard tunnelling gateway, it is the first solution that allows connection of devices to up to 14 different Ethernet and serial protocols using a single hardware platform.

Available for all major automation manufacturers - including Siemens, Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi, Omron, GE Fanuc, Alstom and Altus - and up to six serial protocols - including AS511, Modbus Master and Slave (RTU/ASCII), SNP-X, TI-Dir and Uni-Telway - the Woodhead Gateway simultaneously supports up to eight Ethernet TCP/IP protocols running in client/server mode.

Now available from and supported by Pantek, Woodhead's Gateway enables communication and interoperability between: multi-Ethernet TCP/IP and multi-Ethernet TCP/IP networks (same and different protocols); multi-Ethernet TCP/IP and mono serial networks; and serial and serial networks (same protocol).

Through its onboard database (32Kbit/32Kword), the Gateway performs all communication tasks, exchanging data as required by running automatic read/write cyclic functions.

it also allows reception of unsolicited read/write requests.

The Gateway can be configured through remote TCP/IP under Windows XP and 2000 environments and it is delivered with a set of tools including configuration software, network diagnostic tools and data access utilities.

Easy to install thanks its DIN rail clips, the Gateway hardware platform is an extremely compact board that embeds a powerful processor, running a real-time OS kernel.

Its connectivity includes an RJ45 Ethernet port at 10Mbit/s, and an RS485/RS422 serial port up to 38.4Kbit/s.

Applications include: Scada connectivity, machine tool industry (easy access to various PLC vendor products - adaptation of serial devices) and building automation (alarm centre application, integration of legacy devices).
