Invensys is introducing two xMII XApps certified packaged composite applications (PCAs) that will help drive incremental business value.

Invensys is introducing two xMII XApps certified packaged composite applications (PCAs) that will help drive incremental business value by offering manufacturing clients a single solution environment extending from the plant or factory floor up through the enterprise This announcement builds on the Powered by SAP NetWeaver certification status that Invensys announced at last year's ARC Forum in Orlando and furthers a collaborative relationship between Invensys and SAP

Two initial Invensys-developed PCAs have achieved SAP xApps - Powered by SAP NetWeaver status: Real-Time Finance and Real-Time Production Execution.

As a member of SAP's Consumer Packaged Goods and Chemicals Industry Value Networks, Invensys will market these PCAs globally to customers within these industries and other process industries.

The SAP Industry Value Networks bring together customers, partners, and SAP to develop solutions that address specific customer business requirements.

The Real-Time Finance composite application, developed by Invensys Process Systems, is designed to help align process manufacturing operations with business objectives by providing managers in process and packaged goods manufacturing enterprises with clear, minute-to-minute information about production-related financial performance.

The Real-Time Production Execution composite application, developed by Invensys' Wonderware unit, enhances production agility by providing a powerful pre-integrated solution for dispatching, executing, monitoring, and evaluating manufacturing production and performance runs in equipped discrete, batch and hybrid plant operations.

The Invensys PCAs can be plugged into any existing industrial automation and IT infrastructure to deliver new functionality.

This new functionality is enabled by standards-based interoperability between business processes that are managed within SAP business applications and plant processes that are managed within Invensys' InFusion Enterprise Control System and/or the Wonderware System Platform.

Specific enabling technologies include SAP NetWeaver; SAP xMII and Invensys' open, standards-based ArchestrA technology.

Ulf Henriksson, CEO of Invensys said "As an SAP customer, Invensys understands the value that can be generated through the effective implementation of enterprise-wide business strategies".

"We also know that there is significant potential value to be gained through real-time measurement and management of manufacturing assets".

"By taking advantage of the industry and solution expertise from both organisations to achieve this, we can now bring tremendous value to our mutual customers".

Sudipta Bhattacharya, Senior Vice President of Solution Management for SCM, PLM, and Manufacturing, SAP, commented, "SAP and Invensys share a common vision of an adaptive manufacturing strategy, and today's announcement underscores our strong commitment in helping this vision into a reality for customers".

"SAP's recent certification of both composites from Invensys helps fulfil our shared vision by reducing integration costs for connecting the plant or shop floor to enterprise solutions".

Through SAP xApps Certified status, partners and ISVs like Invensys deliver on the promise of enterprise service-oriented architecture (enterprise SOA) following the principles and standards of SAP's composite architectural guidelines.

Composite applications that are certified by the SAP Integration and Certification Centre re-use, integrate and orchestrate functionalities from existing application assets in the context of an enterprise SOA, with only selective development of new functionality where needed to fill gaps.

A composite application provides new application functionality, supports analysis followed by action (where appropriate), and enables the execution of business processes from start to finish.

It has the potential for repeatable deliveries to multiple customers.
