Exceptional repeatability from level switches

A Pulsar Process Measurement product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 19, 2000

Pulsarpoint ultrasonic level switches are ideal for detecting both rising and falling levels in liquid and slurry tanks, for overfill protection, low level liquid alarm and leak detection

Pulsar Process Measurements are introducing their range of low cost, non-invasive ultrasonic level switches.

The Pulsarpoint, which is ideal for detecting both rising and falling levels in liquid and slurry tanks, provides exceptional repeatability as low as +/-1 mm, through glass and metal tank walls of up to 40 mm thick.

Typical applications include overfill protection, low level liquid alarm and leak detection across a broad spectrum of industries.

The compact sensor is simply fitted to the outside of the tank or vessel at the required switch point and because it is totally non-invasive there are no limitations to the type of liquid which can be monitored.

The Pulsarpoint transmits ultrasonic soundwaves through the wall of the tank and then monitors the characteristics of the reflected waves in order to detect the absence or presence of the liquid.

A change in condition is indicated once material reaches the required level and the output may be assigned to indicate a 'wet' or 'dry' status at the required level.

The Pulsarpoint is extremely simple to install and can be fitted without any vessel modification or interruption to the ongoing process.

Calibration is carried out using the single button and LED status indicators.

Outputs available include a 1 amp volt-free contact changeover and industry standard 4-20 mA.

The rugged stainless steel enclosure provides a high degree of environmental protection and the unit can operate over a wide temperature range of -40 to +100C.

A CENELEC version, certified to EEx ia llC T6, is available for use in hazardous areas.

The Pulsarpoint is part of Pulsar's extensive range of level control and process monitoring equipment.
