The new 200 series of vibrating probe from Pulsar Process Measurement offers a tried and tested method of detecting level change for use in the bulk handling industry.

The 200 series uses a continuous vibrating single blade that detects the presence or absence of solid materials at the point in a vessel where the device is mounted.

The length of the blade may be increased by up to six metres to suit various level conditions.

The blade itself is made from hard wearing 316 stainless steel and is vibrated at a high frequency by a piezo crystal housed inside the device.

When material touches the blade the resonance ceases, triggering a relay to switch and alert the users to a level change within the vessel.

The vibrating action and the shape of the blade produces a self cleaning action, once the material falls away the oscillation continues, and the relay returns to its original state.

Keith Flint, Marketing Director at Pulsar, says "This unit's blade is specifically designed to be less susceptible to wear and abrasion.

The blade itself is narrow in profile but very strong and rugged in construction.

Units can be mounted at almost any point in a vessel or silo to ensure accurate solids level switching.

Typical applications include overfill protection, high and low level material alarm points, inventory and material feed control switches.
