A new range of robust, vertical sump pumps which are designed to withstand aggressive and abrasive media, has recently been introduced by liquids handling specialists Pump Engineering.

ASV ET sealless pumps are of single-stage modular centrifugal design, with standard models constructed from either Polypropylene (PP) for operating temperatures of 5C to 80C, or Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) for more demanding application temperatures of -20C up to 100C.

These pumps can operate at submersion depths ranging from 500mm to 2000mm, in steps of 250mm.

However, a special suction extension feature enables submersion depths to be increased by a further 2000mm, depending on the pump size.

Features such as, stainless steel pump shaft with corrosion resistant protection sleeve guided by slide bearings of Carbon/PTFE or Silicon Carbide and an integrated patented relief system to prevent flushing of solids into the slide bearings, combined with the all-round rugged design of the pump, ensures smooth, vibration- free operation and minimal maintenance.

A range of options are available to adapt the pump to specific application requirements.

These include mounting plates, pressure pipe branches, suction shoe extensions, strainers in case of larger solid particles, external bearing lubrication and dry running capable sleeve bearings.

Also, depending on operating conditions accessories such as dry-running protection device, level controls and thermoplastic valves can be specified.

Typical applications for ASV ET vertical sumps pumps include transferring aggressive and corrosive fluids in water purification, water/waste water treatment plants, galvanizing/surface treatment, electroplating and finishing industries.
