Pump Engineering offers aseptic control valve

A Pump Engineering product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 1, 2009

A compact aseptic control valve suitable for use in critical areas such as bioreactors, pharmaceuticals, biologics and food processing, has been added to the Badger Meter valve range.

The Series SCV-09, available through Pump Engineering, is a modulating diaphragm style valve that meets the manufacturing standards established by the 3A Sanitary Standards.

A new, patented compact aseptic control valve suitable for use in critical areas such as bioreactors, pharmaceuticals, biologics and food processing, has been added to the Badger Meter valve range.

The valve uses a sealing arrangement that avoids metal-to-metal contact, which could result in metal particles being released into sensitive products, while giving a similar level of control to a metal plug and seat.

The self-draining, isolated seal design enables the valve to be used in applications where quick assembly and disassembly for effective cleaning is essential, for example, clean-in-place (CIP) and sanitise-in-place (SIP) processes.

It features internal surfaces that are electropolished and finished to 0.4um Ra, a heavy-duty tri-clamp body/bonnet connection and two 1/8in NPT connections for venting, purging and sterilisation.

In addition to its 3A rating, the SCV-09 valve is designed in accordance with ASME BPE-2005 and meets ANSI/FCI 70-2 class VI shut-off rating.

It is available in 1/2in, 3/4in and 1in body sizes in 316L S/S, is suitable for low to medium flow rates and has a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar.

To suit specific application requirements the valves can be supplied with a choice of actuators along with a range of accessories, such as solenoids, limit switches, gauges, I/P converters, filters and regulators.
