Rivet nuts for use with high-tensile screws

A Poly Fasteners product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 1, 2009

Poly Fasteners is offering the HT rivet nut, which can be engineered to meet most high-strength applications.

Rivet nut threads and clamp have always been in question when used in conjunction with high-tensile screws.

The forming of the bulge has always required the rivet nut to be soft and malleable at the point of upset and even though its thread strength may be enhanced, a weak point remains.

With excessive clamping, the body of the rivet nut can be pulled through the bulge before the screw fails.

With the latest rivet nuts from Poly Fasteners, this problem can be solved as both the thread quality and the fixing area can be enhanced to overcome the failure point of even 12.9 screws.
