The risk of explosion exists in operations both upstream and downstream, but through careful management and planning, the explosion risk can be mitigated.
Pyroban, the explosion proof safety company, provides a range of services to help manage the risk and remove the sources of ignition found in the operation.
Pyroban has supported the US offshore market since the 1980s with explosion proof diesel engine solutions, however it is now in a position to offer an extended and more flexible service for the US market in line with its activities in Europe and Asia.
At OTC, Pyroban business managers will be available to discuss three areas of activity for both offshore installations and onshore refineries/plants.
Pyroban provides a complete solution to explosion proof a diesel engine including components such as exhaust gas coolers, 3GP and spark arrestors.
Diesel engines are used in Zone 2 areas offshore to power temporary well service equipment such as CTUs, nitrogen pumps etc.
Systems are fully certified and Pyroban has supported US and international service companies with their operations globally.
In many cases offshore and onshore, there are no off the shelf explosion proof solutions.
Pyroban takes a flexible approach to engineering explosion proof solutions for a variety of new or existing equipment.

This is a new service being introduced to the US market at OTC.
Recent events have called for the need of additional safety in low explosion risk areas particularly addressing vehicles as an ignition source.
In low explosion risk areas, a flammable gas or vapour is not likely to occur, however it cannot be ruled out considering the high potential loss in the event of an accident.
Pyroban will be showcasing an innovative gas detection and shutdown system Gascheka for the first time in the US at OTC.
The system benefits from local installation to any vehicle or piece of equipment within a day providing detection of a wide range of gases with self calibration and test.
