Small claims for multilayer actuators
The PL-022, PL-033 and PL-055 PICMA-chip piezo actuator series are billed as the smallest multilayer actuators in the world.
The PL-022, PL-033 and PL-055 PICMA-chip piezo actuator series are billed as the smallest multilayer actuators in the world PICMA chip actuators consist of a highly reliable ceramic-insulated PZT block (made of 30um layers) and come in standard sizes as small as 2 x 2 x 2mm

Long range for PZT steering mirror
Polytec PI, NanoPositioning Group, has released what it claims to be the world's longest-range high-speed PZT-driven two-axis mirror scanner.
They provide subnanometre resolution and submillisecond response, and are ideally suited to high-level dynamic applications.
The new ceramics provides a usable temperature range extending up to 150C, about twice the range of conventional multilayer actuators.
At the low end, operation down to a few Kelvin is possible.
The new monolithic, ceramic-insulated design makes polymer-film insulation unnecessary.
Diffusion of water molecules into the insulation layer, the major failure cause of conventional actuators, is greatly reduced by the use of cofired outer ceramic insulation.
This feature gives PICMA chip actuators superior lifetime to conventional actuators in high-endurance situations.
The lack of polymer insulation and the high operating temperature (high bake-out temperatures) make for optimal ultra-high-vacuum compatibility.
